Peruvian restaurant Maido has been named the world’s best restaurant for 2025, taking over from last year’s winner Disfrutar in Barcelona. The Lima-based eatery, known for its Nikkei cuisine and over 10-course tasting menu, earned the top spot at a ceremony in Turin, Italy.
Maido was followed by No. 2 Asador Etxebarri in Spain and No. 3 Quintonil in Mexico City. The restaurant’s chef-owner, Mitsuharu “Micha” Tsumura, was praised for his innovative approach to Nikkei cuisine.
The US saw several restaurants make the list, with New York City’s Atomix coming in at No. 12. Other American restaurants included SingleThread in California at No. 80 and Le Bernardin in New York at No. 90.
The World’s Best Restaurants awards are considered one of the most prestigious honors in the culinary world, and this year’s list highlights the diversity and depth of global dining.
