Maingear Unveils Nostalgic ’90s Desktop with Modern Components Inside

Maingear has launched the Retro95, a prebuilt desktop that combines ’90s-era design with modern components. The PC is designed for those nostalgic for the days of Windows 95, floppy disks, and dial-up internet. The Retro95 uses the SilverStone FLP01 case, originally conceived as an April Fools’ joke last year.

The PC features latest components, including AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080, 96GB of RAM, and 8TB of NVMe storage. The design includes a hidden front-panel I/O with a headphone jack, USB-C port, and two USB-A ports.

Cooling is handled by Noctua fans, which provide great performance without excessive noise. The PC also features power and disk activity LEDs at the front, alongside power and reset buttons. However, there is no turbo button for overclocking the CPU.

The Retro95 is available starting at $1,599 as part of a limited drop. Maingear warns that once these units are gone, they will be unavailable.
