Make Your Bed Last Night for Better Morning Hygiene

Making your bed as soon as you wake up might not be the best idea. When you sleep, your body releases heat and sweat that seeps into your bedding. If you make the bed immediately after waking, you trap this moisture, creating a cozy environment for dust mites.

Dust mites thrive in moist conditions and feed on dead skin cells. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America warns that they can be a major problem for people with allergies or asthma.

To minimize the risks, experts suggest letting your bed “breathe” for 30-60 minutes before making it. Open a window or turn on a fan to help dry out the sheets. This approach doesn’t mean you should skip making your bed; in fact, studies show that people who make their beds regularly are 19% more likely to report good sleep.

The key is to give your bed some air time before tidying up.
