Malala Yousafzai Vows to Condemn Israel’s Gaza Attacks

Nobel Peace laureate Malala Yousafzai has reaffirmed her commitment to speaking out against Israel’s alleged violations of international law and human rights in the Gaza Strip. Addressing a global summit on girls’ education in Muslim nations, she condemned the Israeli military’s actions as “decimating” the entire education system.

Yousafzai also criticized the Taliban government in Afghanistan for its stance on women’s education, labeling their treatment of females as “simply put, they do not see women as human beings.” The 27-year-old advocacy leader emphasized the need for Muslim leaders to raise their voices and use their power to oppose the Taliban’s curbs on girls’ education.

The comments come as tensions between Israel and Palestine remain high, with the conflict in Gaza sparked by Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023. According to official Israeli figures, over 1,200 civilians were killed in the initial attack, while the Israeli military has reported 46,537 civilian casualties during its retaliatory offensive.

Yousafzai’s words carry significant weight, given her own experience as a survivor of Taliban violence. At just 15 years old, she was shot by Pakistani Taliban militants for advocating for girls’ education. Her remarkable recovery and subsequent Nobel Prize win have made her an iconic voice for human rights and education worldwide.
