San Antonio Spurs forward Sandro Mamukelashvili scored a career-high 34 points, making him the first player since 1951-52 to achieve 90% shooting from the field and 100% from three-point range.
Mamukelashvili’s historic night came against the New York Knicks at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, with his teammate Flavor Flav, a friend of Mamukelashvili, cheering him on. The Spurs won 120-105, with Mamukelashvili making his presence felt early in the game. He scored his first bucket and drilled a 27-footer to give the Spurs a seven-point lead.
The forward finished the quarter with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including 3-of-3 from long range with 7 rebounds and an assist as San Antonio walked off the floor at intermission leading 67-43. Mamukelashvili didn’t play in the third quarter but lit up the Knicks for 21 points in the final frame.
Spurs teammates praised Mamukelashvili’s performance, calling him an “amazing teammate” who consistently works hard every day. The historic night came at a perfect time for Mamukelashvili, who had just flown in his father from New Jersey to watch the game with other family members.
