Man Downgraded from First Class for Service Dog on Delta Flight

A Delta Air Lines passenger was left fuming after being forced to give up his first class seat to a service dog accompanying a fellow traveler. The man, who had previously enjoyed upgraded seating, took to Reddit to express his outrage.

“I got upgraded to first class this morning, only to be downgraded 15 minutes later,” he wrote. “When I asked the desk agent what happened, she said ‘something changed.’ When I boarded, I saw a dog in my original first class seat.”

The passenger claimed that Delta support told him that he may need to be relocated for the service animal and that there was nothing they could do. He expressed frustration with the airline’s policies, saying “What an absolute joke. What’s the point of being loyal to this airline anymore?”

Many travelers sided with the frustrated passenger, stating that service animals can be a nuisance on flights. Others joked about the prevalence of service animals in the US.

However, a Delta employee chimed in, explaining that passengers with special needs and service animals are granted priority under the law. The employee advised that Delta has a legal obligation to accommodate these travelers.
