A South Wales resident has made a final proposal to the Newport City Council: he’ll buy the landfill where he accidentally threw away a hard drive containing his only copy of a private key worth around $800 million. James Howells, who’s been searching for 12 years, wants to excavate the site and use advanced technology to locate the lost Bitcoin wallet. The city has refused his requests to dig up the landfill, leading him to propose buying it instead.
