Mara Wilson Honors Childhood Friend Michelle Trachtenberg

Childhood actress Mara Wilson is paying tribute to her late friend Michelle Trachtenberg, who passed away suddenly at 39 in February. In a recent essay for Vulture, Wilson shared how the two became close friends while attending middle school together in Burbank, California.

Wilson and Trachtenberg met after she moved from New York to Los Angeles as a young girl. Despite what other students said about Trachtenberg’s supposed mean streak, Wilson stood up for her, defending her reputation. The two also shared similar experiences with bullying, both as children actors and awkward teenagers.

Trachtenberg’s death sparked an outpouring of support from Wilson and their childhood friends. In her essay, Wilson wrote that she has been reaching out to many of them, letting them know how much she loved and missed them. Trachtenberg’s cause of death remains undetermined, but her family objected to an autopsy.

Wilson’s heartfelt tribute highlights the special bond between two young actresses who went on to pursue successful careers in Hollywood.
