Nintendo has confirmed that its next direct showcase will be a relatively short and sweet 15-minute broadcast. The event is set to reveal more about the new Mario Kart game, titled Mario Kart World, which was teased in January during the first-look Switch 2 trailer.
Mario Kart World is scheduled to launch on June 5, 2025, alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 console and has been delayed for pre-orders. The game promises a massive open-world experience with new tracks, racers, and gameplay modes.
During the showcase, Nintendo is expected to reveal more details about the game’s open-world aspect, including how players can drive between courses, explore environments, and participate in events like Knockout Tour and Free Roam.
The event will also likely feature gameplay footage showcasing the game’s new features, such as rail grinding and wall riding. Expect questions answered about the game’s price point, which has been set at $450 for the base model, and whether classic tracks like Rainbow Road will be included.
This marks a busy few weeks for Nintendo, following the official reveal of the Switch 2 console. The next direct showcase is set to go live on April 17, 2024, at 6 a.m. PT/9 a.m. ET across all official Nintendo channels.
