The gaming team at Digital Foundry has analyzed the upcoming game Mario Kart World for the Nintendo Switch 2. According to their findings, the game runs at a smooth 60fps in its default mode, while its Photo Mode operates at 30fps. However, they have reported a potential 120fps mode that hasn’t been fully tested.
The team also examined the game’s visual parameters and found a resolution of 1440p without any anti-aliasing or temporal upscaling enhancements. They described this as “baked lighting,” which minimizes aliasing issues in typical gameplay.
In terms of split-screen play, the game maintains its 60fps refresh rate for both two-player and four-player modes. However, footage of four-player splitscreen is currently lacking due to a lack of capture.
While some users may find Mario Kart World’s graphics enhancements appealing, others have expressed frustration with the potential price increase. Some users have suggested that the game should be priced at $1399 or even lower, while others argue that it’s worth its current estimated cost of around $500, including tax.
Digital Foundry’s analysis suggests that Mario Kart World will offer replayability throughout the lifespan of the Switch 2 console, making it an attractive option for fans. Despite some initial concerns about the game’s price and potential lack of longevity, many users seem to be excited about the game’s release.
