Mark Clouse Hired as Washington Commanders’ New President

The Washington Commanders have hired Mark Clouse as their new president, filling a key role in the team’s revamped power structure. Clouse, who has served as CEO of The Campbell’s Company since 2019, will start at the end of January and be responsible for business operations.

Clouse comes to the Commanders after Jason Wright stepped down as team president in July, following allegations of sexual harassment during his tenure under former owner Dan Snyder. Wright is now a senior adviser, while General manager Adam Peters remains the top football person in the organization.

A West Point graduate with 6½ years of service in the military as a helicopter pilot, Clouse has also worked in business since 1996, starting at Kraft Foods. He will answer directly to majority owner Josh Harris and will not be involved in football operations.

Clouse’s leadership skills and reputation for building strong company cultures were key factors in his hiring. Harris praised Clouse’s ability to strengthen organizations and build championship-caliber teams. “He has a proven ability to strengthen both the organizations he leads and the communities he serves,” Harris said.

The move is part of a series of changes since Josh Harris’ group purchased the team in July 2023, including new leaders at prominent positions and the signing of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Commanders have seen an 8-5 record this season, which has rejuvenated a fan base that had grown tired of losing under Snyder’s leadership.
