Mark Cuban, billionaire founder of several companies and investor in hundreds of small businesses, appeared in our Power Hours series. But his response was surprising – he spends most of his day reading and responding to emails. Despite being a busy entrepreneur, Cuban claimed that his day consists of simply reading and responding to emails, with occasional Zoom calls and dinner.
The billionaire’s email habits raise questions: What makes emails so attractive? And why doesn’t he hire an assistant to handle the bulk of his emailing? We sent him additional emails to gather more insight, which he shared in a response. Cuban’s reliance on emails is partly due to their ability to be archived and easily searchable.
Cuban’s day appears to be quite routine, with little room for meetings or other activities. This simplicity might make email management efficient, but it also leaves limited space for strategic thinking and growth. As one of the most successful entrepreneurs in his field, Cuban’s approach is intriguing, if not a bit unorthodox.
