Mark Zuckerberg Criticizes Apple Over Innovation and Ecosystem

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has taken shots at Apple once again, criticizing the company’s lack of innovation since the iPhone. In a recent interview with Joe Rogan, Zuckerberg said Apple hasn’t invented anything great in over two decades and is relying on its closed ecosystem to maintain profit. He cited developers’ fees and difficulty for other companies to penetrate as evidence.

Zuckerberg credited Apple for making one of the most popular smartphones but argued that it has “squeezed people” by imposing a 30% tax on developers and limiting device connections with AirPods. The CEO claimed Meta faced similar issues when developing its Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which were allegedly denied access to Apple’s proprietary protocol.

This is not the first time Zuckerberg has criticized Apple, dating back to at least 2014. He previously mentioned high prices, app store issues, and privacy policies as areas of concern. Despite this, Zuckerberg remains optimistic about the tech industry, believing companies that fail to innovate will be surpassed by others.
