Mark Zuckerberg Criticizes Apple’s Innovation Efforts, Calls for Change

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg criticized Apple’s recent innovation efforts, including its Vision Pro headset, in a podcast interview with Joe Rogan. He stated that Apple hasn’t invented anything great in roughly two decades since the iPhone was created by Steve Jobs.

Zuckerberg argued that if Apple stopped applying arbitrary rules, Meta’s profit would double. He also took aim at the company’s “random rules” and their impact on consumer freedom. The CEO claimed that the iPhone sales are struggling due to consumers taking longer to upgrade their phones because new models aren’t significant improvements from prior iterations.

Zuckerberg pointed out that Apple’s 30% tax on developers is a major issue, stifling competition in the industry. He also criticized the company’s approach to security and encryption, stating that it’s insecure and used as a justification for exclusive access to certain products.

In contrast, Zuckerberg praised Meta’s own virtual headsets, saying they have done well despite initial rough versions. He didn’t harshly criticize Apple’s Vision Pro headset but acknowledged its limitations, saying it “didn’t hit the park” in its first version.
