Markelle Fultz has agreed to a contract with the Sacramento Kings after being released by the Orlando Magic amid their decision to sign Kentavious Caldwell-Pope over him in the offseason.
The 26-year-old guard, who was named one of 12 finalists for the 2023-24 Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award, spent the past season without a deal following the expiration of his rookie contract extension. Fultz’s injury-plagued campaign saw him missing 30 games due to left knee tendonitis and later slipping out of his spot in the starting rotation.
Despite struggling with shooting woes and averaging just 0.4 three-point attempts per game, Fultz appeared more confident during the Magic’s postseason series against the Cleveland Cavaliers. With Sacramento, he may seek an early playing time as the team tries to fill the void at point guard left by De’Aaron Fox, who was traded to the San Antonio Spurs.
