Markets Digest Trade Deal, Inflation Data, and Corporate News

US stock futures pointed lower after major market indexes rose for a third consecutive session on Tuesday, but the Dow Jones Industrial Average still managed to close higher. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 futures were also lower. Investors are watching key inflation data later today.

In other news, the US and China agreed on a framework to implement their trade deal, which aims to reduce tariffs between the two nations. However, the deal still needs approval from US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Economists expect inflation to have ticked higher in May due to tariff impacts. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is expected to come in at an annual rate of 2.4%, up from 2.3% in April.

Tesla shares rose 2% in premarket trading after CEO Elon Musk announced a timeline for the company’s robotaxi launch and apologized for some of his critical posts about President Trump. The rollout of Tesla’s robotaxi service could come as early as June 22.

Meanwhile, Alphabet’s Google is offering buyouts to US employees across multiple divisions within the company, including its search division.
