Markets Rebalance Amid Tech Gains and Sector Shifts

US stock markets experienced a mixed session as tech shares propelled the Nasdaq to an all-time high. The Nasdaq rose, while the S&P 500 advanced and the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined.

Notable movers included Super Micro Computer (SMCI), whose shares surged after an internal investigation cleared its accounting practices of misconduct. The company will also appoint a new CFO.

Tesla’s shares gained on an upgrade from Roth Capital Partners, citing Elon Musk’s ties to President-elect Donald Trump as a likely demand booster. Gap (GAP) received a price target increase from JPMorgan, following positive comments from its CEO and CFO.

However, Stellantis’ shares plummeted after CEO Carlos Tavares suddenly resigned. Pacific Gas & Electric’s stock sale also led to a decline in shares. The US reported that it is entering the winter with the most natural gas since 2016, causing tumbles for companies in the sector.

Oil futures rose, while gold prices fell and cryptocurrencies declined. The US dollar advanced against major currencies, except those of yen and euro.
