Mars Rover Perseverance Explores Pico Turquino Peak

NASA’s Perseverance rover has completed a scenic ascent to the rim of Jezero Crater on Mars, visiting notable landmarks like Pico Turquino, a 656-foot-long outcrop. The six-wheeled robot has been studying local regolith and geological features with its instruments before embarking on abrasion testing, which aims to uncover evidence related to the crater’s formation.

As part of its Crater Rim Campaign, Perseverance is searching for signs of life on Mars by examining rocks at Pico Turquino. The rover will continue its ascent, passing through Lookout Hill and arriving at Witch Hazel Hill, offering spectacular views of Jezero Crater and surrounding terrain.
