Marvel Studios has confirmed that artificial intelligence (AI) was not used to create the poster for its upcoming movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Despite speculation online due to the unusual similarity in facial features between two of the women in the image and some individuals displaying four fingers, a representative from Marvel Studios told Deadline that AI technology was not employed.
In contrast, it’s worth noting that Marvel did utilize AI for the opening sequence of its Disney+ series Secret Invasion, which fits the show’s theme of shape-shifting. The new Fantastic Four movie is directed by Matt Shakman and features Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch.
The film will follow the quartet’s battle against super villain Galactus. With notable voice actors like Ralph Ineson voicing Galactus, John Malkovich making a cameo appearance, and three of the top 10 domestic opening movies at the July box office, this movie promises to be an exciting addition to Marvel’s lineup.
As speculation surrounding AI usage in the poster continues, it remains unclear whether the image was created using AI-enhanced photo editing software or not.
