Marvel Studios has revealed the villainous Galactus from their upcoming film, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, courtesy of new promo art. The gigantic space god appears to be a faithful adaptation of his comic book counterpart, with Ralph Ineson embodying the character. His armour bears an eerie resemblance to Celestian attire.
Director Matt Shakman had initially intended not to include Doctor Doom as the main antagonist, instead opting for Galactus as the primary villain due to the latter’s unique capabilities and ability to present a fresh perspective on the Fantastic Four team. Shakman aimed to avoid motion-capture for Galactus, instead opting for an actor portraying the character to create a more immersive experience.
The film promises to introduce Marvel’s First Family – Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm – as they face their greatest challenge yet against the powerful space god Galactus. The movie’s setting, a 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic world, will feature a backdrop of vibrant colours. With an ensemble cast that includes Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and newcomers Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne, the film is set to be released on July 25, 2025.
