Marvel Rivals Reverses Mid-Season Rank Reset Plan Amid Fan Backlash

Marvel Rivals has reversed its plan to reset player ranks mid-season, citing overwhelming fan feedback against the idea. The game’s developer, NetEase, had announced a mid-season rank reset for February 21st but quickly U-turned after an outpouring of negative comments on social media.

Fans expressed concerns that the frequent rank resets would be demotivating and less enjoyable, particularly in competitive mode. In response to these concerns, NetEase has scrapped the plan and instead will retain players’ ranks and scores from the end of the first half of the season.

To earn new rewards, players will need to complete 10 matches in Competitive mode by the end of the season. The decision comes after a mixed critical reception for the game, with some reviewers praising its complex gameplay but criticizing its lack of actual fun.

The addition of Fantastic Four members, including The Thing and Human Torch, was also confirmed alongside the initial announcement.
