Marvel Rivals Reverses Rank Reset Plan Amid Community Backlash

Marvel Rivals, a live-service multiplayer game, announced a plan to reset ranks mid-season to give players a new goal to grind toward. However, the 500,000-member subreddit community immediately rebelled against this decision. In response to the backlash, NetEase revised its plan and will no longer be resetting ranks during the second half of Season 1.

Instead, players who hit Gold rank by February 21 will still receive their rewards, but they’ll only need to complete 10 additional matches in competitive mode before the end of the season to unlock further rewards. The game’s developers have shown a willingness to listen to community feedback and adjust their plans accordingly.

This decision demonstrates NetEase’s understanding of the delicate balance between maintaining the overall health of the game and ensuring players have fun. By reversing the rank reset plan, Marvel Rivals has taken steps towards preserving player engagement and rewarding progress.
