Mass General Brigham Announces Hundreds of Layoffs Amid $250 Million Budget Gap

Mass General Brigham, a local healthcare system in Boston, is planning large-scale layoffs as it faces a projected budget gap of $250 million over the next two years. The hospital system cited unrelenting pressures affecting many health care systems across the country contributing to the shortfall.

According to the system’s spokesperson, hundreds of positions will be consolidated under new management and administrative changes aimed at improving efficiency and decision-making.

Mass General Brigham President and CEO Anne Klibanski stated that the reorganization would simplify processes and provide employees with direct access to leadership.

Affected employees are expected to receive severance packages and other benefits coverage.
