Apple’s new AI-powered tools, dubbed “Apple Intelligence,” aim to enhance your iPhone experience. The feature is available on iOS 18.2 in select regions, including the US and Canada, and requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer models.
Getting started with Apple Intelligence is straightforward. After upgrading to iOS 18, you’ll be prompted to set up the feature. Alternatively, navigate to Settings > More for Your iPhone > Set Up Apple Intelligence. The setup process explains various AI upgrades and provides a demo of their functionality. You can also enable notification summaries during this process.
To access AI-driven features, go to Settings > ChatGPT & Siri. Here, you can connect your existing ChatGPT account or initiate the setup process for new users. Enable or disable AI tools in the Apple Intelligence menu, as well as control app access to these features.
Apple Intelligence offers three main sections: Writing Tools, Image Creation, and Visual Intelligence. Writing Tools allow text rewriting, proofreading, and summarization within apps with text boxes. For image creation, launch the Image Playground app to prompt AI-generated images or use Genmoji for emoji creation. The Image Wand is also available in Notes, allowing users to create images from rough sketches.
The Apple Intelligence & Siri menu provides settings for managing AI features, such as enabling/disabling tools and controlling app access. To summarize notifications within apps, highlight the text and tap Writing Tools > Summary. This feature is useful for long emails or documents, breaking down complex content into digestible blocks.
