Mastodon paid tribute to their co-founder and former guitarist Brent Hinds during a recent show in Palmer, Alaska. The performance came just days after Hinds’ death on Wednesday at the age of 51, which was caused by a motorcycle accident.
Drummer Brann Dailor spoke about the loss of his bandmate, describing Hinds as “one of the most creative, beautiful people that we’ve ever come across in this world.” He praised their 25-year relationship, saying they were “brothers to the end” despite facing ups and downs. Dailor also expressed sadness, stating the band is “at a loss for words” and “absolutely devastated” by Hinds’ death.
The tribute was part of Mastodon’s setlist, which featured songs they had created with Hinds. The band expressed gratitude to their fans for helping them cope with the news, saying it made it possible for them to perform despite the pain of losing a loved one.
