Mattel Hit with Class Action Over Wicked Doll Merchandise Link

A multi-million dollar class action lawsuit has been filed against Mattel over a link on tie-in merchandise from its blockbuster film “Wicked”. The lawsuit claims that a child was exposed to hardcore pornography after visiting the website linked on the doll’s packaging.

The plaintiff, Holly Ricketson, purchased the Wicked Doll for her minor daughter in November 2024 and discovered the incorrect link when she visited the website. The complaint alleges that Mattel failed to offer refunds to consumers who had already purchased the dolls, despite knowing about the issue.

Mattel has declined to comment on the litigation but stated that the corrected packaging is now available at retailers online and in stores. However, critics argue that the company’s lack of refund offers shows a lack of common sense oversight.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages against Mattel and claims that the controversy exceeds $5 million. Universal Pictures, which produced the film, has not been named as a defendant.
