“Matthew Perry Doc Explores Ketamine Case, Defendants to Face Trial”

A new documentary on Peacock explores Matthew Perry’s life with addiction and the aftermath of his death due to ketamine use. The special delves into the case against two defendants, Jasveen Sangha and Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who have pleaded not guilty to charges related to Perry’s death.

According to investigators, Sangha sold ketamine to film producer Erik Fleming, who in turn distributed it to Matthew Perry’s live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. Iwamasa allegedly administered the ketamine to Perry six times a day for several days before his death on October 28, 2023.

Two other individuals have pleaded guilty to charges related to Perry’s death: Dr. Mark Chavez and film producer Erik Fleming. Chavez was accused of illegally obtaining ketamine by presenting false information, while Fleming admitted to distributing the substance that led to Perry’s death.

Sangha faces nine criminal charges, including conspiracy to distribute ketamine, distribution of ketamine resulting in death, and maintaining a drug-involved premises. Plasencia has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to go on trial later this year. His defense team claims he was trying to help Perry with medical care, but did not know that the actor was obtaining ketamine from other sources.

The documentary examines the events leading up to Perry’s death, including a series of transactions involving Sangha, Plasencia, and Iwamasa. It also explores the role of ketamine in Perry’s addiction and how it can be legally administered.
