Mavs Rely on Depth as Doncic Sidelined Again

The Dallas Mavericks are bracing for another absence of star Luka Doncic, who suffered a left calf injury in their loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, with Doncic out again, the team has demonstrated its ability to stay afloat and rally behind other players. In Wednesday’s game, Kyrie Irving scored 39 points, while Klay Thompson broke Reggie Miller’s career three-point record.

Doncic’s injury is the second in two games, after he missed a left heel contusion earlier this season. The five-time All-Star has struggled with calf issues throughout his career, missing most of the preseasons. Despite this, the Mavericks have managed to win six out of eight games without Doncic, thanks to players like Kyrie Irving and Spencer Dinwiddie stepping up.

Coach Jason Kidd praised the team’s ability to rally behind Doncic, saying “we’ve got a deep roster” that can withstand his absence. However, he also acknowledged that the Mavericks need Doncic if they want to win a championship. As Irving noted, the team needs to find its rhythm again and trust each other, particularly on defense.

The Mavericks will be without Doncic for at least a few games as he recovers from his latest injury. In the meantime, players like Thompson and Irving will need to continue to lead the team and find ways to win without their star player.
