Mayor Eric Adams’ Donor Under Investigation at City-Subsidized Hotel

Federal authorities raided a Queens hotel owned by Weihong Hu, a significant donor to Mayor Eric Adams, on November 14. The search warrant was executed as part of an investigation led by U.S. Attorney Breon Peace in the Eastern District of New York.

Hu’s company, Mayflower Wyndham Garden Hotel, received city funding for rooms used as shelter. However, officials claim that the area targeted by authorities is not where Housing Works operates its short-term residential re-entry program.

The hotel owner, who bundled tens of thousands of dollars to Adams’ 2021 mayoral campaign, has faced allegations of reimbursing donors’ family members in cash. Former aide Winnie Greco lived in a taxpayer-paid room at the hotel and was under investigation earlier this year.

Hu’s attorney remains unresponsive to comment. Mayor Adams’ office says they will continue to cooperate with law enforcement requests, including those unrelated to the mayor.
