MBTA General Manager Phillip Eng Has Governor Maura Healey’s Support Despite Hair-Pulling Incident

MBTA General Manager Phillip Eng has received the backing of Governor Maura Healey after revelations surfaced that he pulled a T employee’s hair during a team dinner two years ago. When asked about her confidence in Eng’s leadership, Healey said “Absolutely”. Eng claimed to have apologized and is focused on moving forward with improving teamwork within the agency.

During an appearance on WCVB’s “On the Record” show, Eng acknowledged that his past action was insensitive and stated he has learned from it. However, he declined to say whether he underwent any additional training after the incident.
