McDonald’s Revives Blueberry McGriddle After 6 Years

McDonald’s is quietly testing a new breakfast item, the Blueberry McGriddle, again after initially introducing it in 2019. The sandwich features sausage, bacon, egg, and cheese on blueberry-infused griddle cakes. Fans are excited about its return, with some even speculating that future variations could include chocolate chips.

The original test of the Blueberry McGriddle was conducted in over 100 locations in Washington, D.C., but it never made it to full release. However, McDonald’s is revisiting the item for a second time, this time testing two varieties: Sausage McGriddle and Bacon, Egg & Cheese McGriddle.

While some fans are skeptical about why McDonald’s is retesting the item, others see it as an opportunity for the company to innovate its brunch menu. The Blueberry McGriddle seems to be a winning formula, having already gained popularity at rival chain Bojangles with their Bo’Berry Biscuits.

For now, the Blueberry McGriddle is only available in Houston, Texas, but fans are making plans to visit and try it out. With any luck, this test could lead to future variations and more success for McDonald’s brunch offerings.
