McDonald’s Rolls Back DEI Policies Amid Activist Pressure

McDonald’s is ending some of its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) practices, citing the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on affirmative action. The fast-food giant has become the latest major corporation to scale back on its “woke” policies amid activist pressure.

In an open letter, McDonald’s announced it is scrapping its “aspirational representation goals,” removing its DEI pledge for suppliers, and changing its diversity team name to the Global Inclusion Team. The company also ended external surveys.

The move comes after several major companies made similar changes last year, including Walmart, Ford Motor Co., John Deere, Lowe’s, and Toyota, in response to activist pressure. Anti-woke activist Robby Starbuck has been leading a campaign exposing these companies’ policies and took credit for forcing changes at multiple firms.

McDonald’s began discussing the policy changes months ago, considering the legal landscape after the Supreme Court’s ruling against affirmative action. The decision marks a shift in the company’s approach to inclusion, which was previously seen as part of its core values.
