McDonald’s is introducing a new value menu category, “McValue,” as part of its efforts to regain market share and attract price-conscious customers. The menu, set to roll out nationwide on Tuesday, features a popular $5 meal deal, as well as a “Buy One, Add One for $1” option that includes breakfast.
The McValue menu aims to address customer concerns about rising prices, with items averaging 40% higher since 2019. To combat this, McDonald’s is promoting its new offerings through a marketing campaign starring WWE wrestler-turned-actor John Cena.
The value perception of the chain has dimmed among cash-conscious customers, but McDonald’s sees an opportunity in focusing on budget-oriented consumers. The company will release quarterly earnings on February 3 to gauge the success of its efforts.
The McValue menu is McDonald’s largest value-minded effort since 2018, when it priced items between $1 and $3. The new offerings are designed to provide more “bang for your buck” at affordable prices, addressing customer concerns about inflation.
In a marketing campaign worth $100 million, McDonald’s will give away $3 million in promotional offers from other brands, including free subscription to YouTube TV or Tinder tiers. The promotions aim to spread the word about McValue and drive sales.
