McIlroy Surges to Masters Lead with Stellar First Nine Holes

Rory McIlroy made a remarkable surge at the Masters, taking the lead through the first nine holes on Saturday. The Northern Irish golfer achieved a score of 3 on each of the opening six holes, a first in Masters history.

McIlroy carded an eagle-birdie-par-birdie-par before finally making a par at the 7th hole. He moved from two back of leader Justin Rose to three ahead, thanks to a stellar start. However, McIlroy let a solid round slip away on Thursday with double bogeys over the closing four holes.

But McIlroy bounced back, scoring a birdie at the 10th and 11th holes, followed by an eagle at the 13th and another birdie at the 15th. His 66 was the lowest score of the day, propelled him to 9 under par after two rounds.

With a combined score of 63 strokes through nine holes on Friday and Saturday, McIlroy leads Bryson DeChambeau by two strokes, solidifying his position atop the leaderboard.
