McLaren Dominates Bahrain GP Practice, Piastri Takes Lead

McLaren driver Oscar Piastri topped the timesheets during Friday evening’s second practice session for the Bahrain Grand Prix, leading teammate Lando Norris and Mercedes driver George Russell.

The team’s strong performance came after a hot first hour of practice, which saw more representative conditions in the twilight hours ahead of Qualifying and the Grand Prix.

Piastri set the pace with a time of 1:30.505s, followed by Norris and Russell. The session also featured all 20 full-time drivers, including Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Fernando Alonso returning to their respective cars.

The McLarens quickly adapted to the track conditions, with Piastri holding onto his lead as the session progressed. Russell improved in the final minutes, taking second place behind Piastri.

Other notable performances included Verstappen, who struggled with his brakes, and Hamilton, who finished eighth with Ferrari. The Williams and Haas teams also completed their back-to-back runs with new floor designs.

The drivers will regroup in the paddock before returning to the track for Saturday’s final practice session.
