A case of measles has been confirmed in Pueblo, Colorado. The patient, an unvaccinated adult, recently traveled to Mexico where a measles outbreak was occurring.
The individual visited Southwest Deli and Cafe from March 17-21 and the Southern Colorado Clinic on March 22. Anyone who was at these locations during this time may have been exposed to measles.
According to health officials, anyone who may have been exposed should monitor their symptoms for at least 21 days and avoid public gatherings or high-risk settings. Measles is highly contagious but can be prevented with a vaccine, which is 97% effective in protecting against the disease.
