A measles case has been reported in Fort Bend County, Texas, according to the county’s health department. The affected individual is a woman between 50 and 60 years old, who recently returned from international travel.
Fort Bend County Judge KP George has assured residents that the health department is working closely with authorities to keep everyone informed. He urged all residents to check their immunization records, get vaccinated if necessary, and stay vigilant for symptoms.
In nearby Houston, three measles cases have been reported this year, but none are linked to the West Texas outbreak. The Houston Health Department announced its first measles cases in over four years earlier this month.
Health officials in Fort Bend County are conducting contact tracing to identify possible exposures. Dr. Gale-Lowe, the director of health services, stressed that vaccination is the best way to protect oneself and loved ones from measles.
