Measles Case Reported in Missouri; Vaccination Urged

Missouri has reported its first confirmed case of measles, a highly contagious and serious disease. The child contracted the virus after international travel, but health leaders say exposure is limited.

Measles can remain alive on surfaces for up to two hours, making it a dangerous virus. Local doctors stress that vaccination is crucial in preventing the spread of the disease. The MMR vaccine offers strong protection, with around 97% effectiveness.

However, if you were vaccinated between 1963 and 1967, your immunity may not be significant due to an older version of the vaccine. Doctors say they are prepared for more cases and have access to vaccines for those who want to be protected.
