Measles Confirmed in DC After International Traveler Arrives

A measles case has been confirmed in Washington D.C., linked to an international traveler who recently arrived at Dulles International Airport. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is urging residents to take precautions after the infected person visited several locations on June 8.

The D.C. Health Department is warning people who were in close proximity to the individual, including those on the Silver Line train from Dulles Airport Station to Metro Center Station, at the Russian School of Mathematics, and on buses southbound to Friendship Heights and Westbound to Tenleytown.

Residents are advised to check the city’s health department website for information on how to protect themselves from measles. With over 1,200 confirmed cases nationwide this year, the CDC is emphasizing the importance of international travel vaccination against measles.
