Measles Confirmed in Houston After Traveler Visits Hobby Airport

A traveler from Mexico has been confirmed as the source of a measles case in Harris County, but officials say it’s not connected to any local cases in the Greater Houston area. The individual was not vaccinated and traveled through Hobby Airport while infectious.

The traveler visited the Western Concourse at Hobby Airport on March 30, 2025, between 4-8 p.m., before continuing to their connecting flight.

According to Dr. David Persse, Chief Medical Officer for the City of Houston, those who were at Hobby Airport during that time may have been exposed. If you’re concerned, call your primary care provider before visiting an emergency room.

The best protection against measles is vaccination, and officials are urging residents to check their immunization status and ensure they’re up to date.
