A case of measles has been confirmed in an unvaccinated child under 5 years old on Oʻahu. The child recently returned from international travel and developed symptoms after returning to Hawaiʻi.
The DOH is investigating the case and identifying potential exposure locations, including:
* Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (March 30)
* Mānoa Valley District Park art class (April 1)
* Queen’s Island Urgent Care Kapahulu (April 4)
If you were at one of these locations on the specified days, and have never received a measles-containing vaccine:
– You may be at risk of developing measles.
– Contact your healthcare provider for vaccine or immune globulin to prevent the disease.
– Be vigilant and watch for symptoms until three weeks after your last exposure.
The DOH is also reaching out directly to individuals who had known contact with the confirmed case.
For more information on measles, visit the DOH website or CDC website. Contact your healthcare provider to get vaccinated.
