A measles case was reported in Taney County, Missouri, sparking health leaders to urge caution and vaccination measures. According to Dr. Dyed Naqvi, a CoxHealth Infectious Disease Doctor, “Do what you can to protect yourself from the disease.” This includes staying at home, monitoring fevers, avoiding large gatherings, and limiting contact with others.
Adults born in 1957 or later who have not been vaccinated or are unsure of their vaccination status should consider getting vaccinated, says Dr. Naqvi. However, vaccination decisions must be made on a case-by-case basis, considering the individual’s health status.
Measles is more common among young children, but anyone can get it. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention immediately. Dr. Naqvi recommends blood tests to determine immunity levels, and advises consulting a doctor for personalized guidance.
