A measles outbreak has been reported in Snohomish County, Washington, with at least two people exposed to the virus. The county’s health department is working closely with those individuals and monitoring their symptoms. Those who visited Seattle-Tacoma International airport on January 10 between 2:30 pm and 8:00 pm are advised to quarantine and wear a mask in public.
Public Health – Seattle & King County has stated that the risk to the general public is low due to high vaccination rates, with most people in the area having immunity. However, individuals who did not receive vaccinations or were in close proximity to those potentially exposed should take precautions. The outbreak comes as measles cases are reported in 30 states, including Washington, with unvaccinated individuals making up 80% of those cases.
