The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has confirmed two cases of measles, prompting a warning to the public about areas where potential exposures have occurred. The first case involves a child under five from El Paso County who received one dose of the MMR vaccine. The second case is an unvaccinated adult in Arapahoe County who contracted the virus while traveling at Denver International Airport on May 13.
CDPHE has identified several locations where people may have been exposed to measles, including Powers Pointe Urgent Care in Colorado Springs and HCA HealthOne Aurora in Aurora. People who visited these locations between June 3-7 are advised to monitor symptoms for 21 days after exposure.
Symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a characteristic rash that usually appears several days later. If you were at any of the listed locations during the specified dates and times, it’s essential to be aware of your risk and take precautions.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is urging residents to get vaccinated against measles to prevent further spread.
