Measles Outbreak in NJ: Who May Be at Risk

New Jersey has confirmed its seventh measles case of the year, with potential exposure to measles on public transit reported. Those who took the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and PATH Newark – World Trade Center Line between August 13-15 may have been exposed.

The New Jersey Department of Health lists several locations and times where people could be at risk:

* NJ Transit Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, 8th Street to Hoboken branch (Aug 13-15)
* 8th Street Light Rail Station – Bayonne (Aug 13-15)
* PATH Newark – World Trade Center Line (Aug 13-15)

Immunization is key to preventing measles. While the state no longer has “herd immunity,” cases are unlikely if you’re vaccinated.

Experts warn that symptoms may appear as early as August 29 for those who weren’t immunized, especially if they interacted with infected individuals.
