Measles Outbreak Sparks Concern in Snohomish County Amid Vaccination Decline

A recent measles outbreak in Snohomish County has left health officials scrambling, with an infant confirmed to have visited multiple locations while contagious. The child was seen at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and two walk-in clinics before being taken to Seattle Children’s for further testing, confirming a measles diagnosis.

Health officials are urging anyone who visited these locations during the exposure periods – the S concourse, Customs to International Arrivals Facility Baggage Claim, PMG Monroe Walk-in Clinic on Saturday, March 29, and PMG Mill Creek Walk-in Clinic on Monday, March 31 – to seek medical advice and monitor for symptoms for 14 days following possible exposure.

Measles is a highly contagious disease that can cause fever, rash, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes. If left unprotected, the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine offers safe and effective protection against this potentially severe disease.
