Russia’s Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev has threatened war against NATO if European countries proceed with their plans to deploy peacekeepers to Ukraine. This move is seen as a response to the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, which Russia opposes on an unconditional basis.
French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have suggested establishing a “coalition of the willing” to send peacekeeping troops to Ukraine. However, Medvedev has rejected this idea, warning that it would lead to war with NATO.
In a recent statement on X, Medvedev also criticized US President Donald Trump, saying he is a “scumbag.” This comes as tensions between Russia and Western countries continue over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb has warned of low chances of Vladimir Putin agreeing to a ceasefire due to his alleged desire to see Ukraine cease to exist. Other world leaders have also criticized Putin’s attempts to delay the ceasefire, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accusing Russia of showing no interest in ending the war.
The situation remains volatile, with reports of drone strikes and casualties on both sides. The Ukrainian General Staff has announced a new chief of armed forces, following an order by Zelensky.
