Meet 115-Year-Old Briton Who’s Revealing Her Secret to Longevity

Ethel Caterham, born in 1909, has become the world’s oldest living person at 115 years old. The British woman has been verified by LongeviQuest and the Gerontology Research Group for the Guinness World Records.

Caterham attributes her longevity to a positive attitude and not arguing with anyone. “I listen and I do what I like,” she said in an interview.

Born in Hampshire, Caterham was raised in Tidworth and later moved to British India as an au pair at 18. She met her husband, Lt Col Norman Caterham, in 1931 and they had two daughters together. The couple lived in various countries, including Gibraltar and Hong Kong, before settling in Surrey.

Caterham currently lives in a care home and has three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. When asked about her secret to longevity, she said, “I’ve taken everything in my stride, the highs and lows.” She is now 115 years old and holds the title of world’s oldest living person.
