Mega Millions Jackpot Grows Near $1 Billion for Christmas Eve Drawing

Mega Millions players have a chance to win life-changing amounts of money this holiday season. The jackpot, which has grown near $1 billion, will be drawn on Tuesday’s drawing. A single winning ticket could claim the prize in annuitized payments or take a lump sum estimated at $429.4 million.

The jackpot has been on the rise since Friday’s drawing, where no one won the top prize. The grand prize for Tuesday’s drawing has ballooned from $862 million to $944 million. Five tickets still won $1 million each by matching the first five numbers in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.

Historically, December has been a good month for Mega Millions players, with 13 jackpots won during the holiday season. However, Christmas Eve has only seen one jackpot win so far in Mega Millions history.

The chances of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are approximately 1 in 302.5 million. Joshua Johnston, lead director of the Mega Millions Consortium, attributes the increase in ticket sales during the holidays to people wanting to imagine and dream about winning a large sum of money.

“Every dollar spent on our tickets gives someone an opportunity to win,” he said.
