A California Lottery representative announced a $1.22 billion Mega Millions ticket was sold at a Circle K store in Cottonwood, with all six numbers matching the drawing. The winning ticket was purchased by an anonymous buyer out of Shasta County.
The store’s owner, Jaspal Singh, and his son, Director of Operations Ishar Gill, expressed shock and excitement upon learning their location was the ticket’s origin. “Everybody knows about it,” Gill said. “Everybody’s excited.”
Gill revealed that the exact amount the store will receive from the win is unknown but capped at $1 million. The identity of the winner remains a mystery as they have not yet come forward.
Locals, including Christina, expressed surprise and joy at the news. “Way to do it, man,” she said. “I hope you live the rest of your life in peace and happiness… It’s amazing that it happened here in Cottonwood.” The Circle K staff plans to give some of the money received back to the community, saying they’re excited about the national win helping put Cottonwood on the map.
